Dragonflies are beautiful as they fly by. They  represent illusion and change. The dragonfly inhabits both air and water. Its wings reflect and refract light, showing us that life may not be what we think, take another look through the illusions.

Attract Dragonflies

  1. Buttonbush and seedbox are good choices for a dragonfly pond’s edge. Place some flat rocks around the pond’s edge. Make sure your pond has over 70% sunlight. Make sure you have underwater plants for the nymphs to land on, since only the adults land on above ground vegetation. Dragonflies eat mosquitoes, make sure you don’t use a bug zapper which will kill the dragonflies, not the mosquitoes.

Legend How Dragonfly was born

According to legend dragonfly was born from dragon. The legend goes like this. Dragon had scales like Dragonfly’s wings. Coyote tricked dragon into changing form, and it’s shape became dragonfly.

Quotes and Poems

“Time is for dragonflies and angels. The former live too little and the latter live too long.”  — James Thurber

The Dragon-fly

By Alfred Lord Tennyson

Today I saw the dragon-fly
Come from the wells where he did lie.
An inner impulse rent the veil
Of his old husk: from head to tail
Came out clear plates of sapphire mail.
He dried his wings: like gauze they grew;
Thro’ crofts and pastures wet with dew
A living flash of light he flew.

The Dragonfly
By Louise Bogan

You are made of almost nothing
But of enough
To be great eyes
And diaphanous double vans;
To be ceaseless movement,
Unending hunger
Grappling love.

Link between water and air,
Earth repels you.
Light touches you only to shift into iridescence
Upon your body and wings.

Twice-born, predator,
You split into the heat.
Swift beyond calculation or capture
You dart into the shadow
Which consumes you.

You rocket into the day.
But at last, when the wind flattens the grasses,
For you, the design and purpose stop.

And you fall
With the other husks of summer.

This is national nurse week. So go out and appreciate the nurses in your life.

Having a sister who has over 30 years experience in the nurse field and still LOVES her job, I came to appreciate nurses even more. She took my calls each time when I needed advise on what to do with my children. She’s driven through snowstorms, thunderstorms to do her job at the hospital, knowing that the current nurses on the job needed relief.

I also want to thank the nurses that personally had to deal with me. I do not like needles and faint rather easily. Thanks for listening to me and helping me through these events.

Nurses deserve our appreciation
They work under a lot of stress
On this there is no speculation
They are the best of the best

The Doctor’s get all of the respect
While the Nurses work on the line
Nurses do what we’ve come to expect
They’re really one of a kind

They nurse our aches and pains
Administer treatment and medication
And then the nurse patiently explains
Alternatives and expectations

Thank a Nurse whenever you can
You will need a Nurse one day
I am the Nurses biggest fan
And that’s all I have to say

More information on how nurses week came into being.

Lavender  has a fresh, sweet, floral, herbaceous aroma that is soothing and refreshing.  Lavender can assist the body when adapting to stress or imbalances. It is a great aid for relaxing and winding down before bedtime, yet has balancing properties that can also boost stamina and energy.  It may be used to soothe and cleanse common cuts, bruises, and skin irritations. Lavender may also be used to enhance the flavor of foods.

These are the areas of your body where you can feel your heartbeat.  These areas release more heat, therefore interacting with your pheromones, a chemical secreted  that influences the behavior of others of the same species, commonly know as a sexual attractant.

“Everything happens for a reason.”

We hear that so often that it’s become almost trite, but there is comfort in those words, nevertheless. Although we have free will, it’s nice to know that beyond our freedom is some overall plan, and that in the end we will all be okay.

Our souls are on a much bigger journey than the life we experience each day. A journey that has been stretching for eons. That journey is written. Imagine an eternal library of books, all telling the ancient stories of lives gone past, lives currently being lived, and unending lives to come. Those are the Akashic Records.

Before a soul travels to its next plane of existence, it is given the opportunity to visit the Akashic Records, to look through some of the lives to come, and to choose that next life that will allow the soul to experience a particular lesson, or pay a particular karmic debt. We choose the joys and sorrows before they ever happen. We choose our loved ones ahead of time. We do it all before we arrive, prepared to experience, to learn, to love, to grow. This is what wise people mean when they answer our questions with “because it is written.” Our lives, past, present, and future, are written in those Akashic Records. And we are contributing authors.

It is possible to access those Records in a limited way through astral projection or guided meditation. Sometimes, if life is particularly confusing and we feel we’ve lost our way, a trip to our own story can provide a clue to our purpose, our path, for this life. Although this can be done on your own, it is often most successful when utilizing a highly-trained hypnotherapist who can help record the session. This person will likely guide you through the use of imagery to that universal library, to help you reveal that giant tome filled with a millennium of ancient parchment that is patiently waiting for you, holding all the answers you seek.

A journey to the Akashic Records will often only reveal what the Universe feels you most need to know right now, but sometimes it will give you a glimpse of the lives you’ve lived before, revealing how you came to be the person you are today. And in the end, you’ll realize that yes, everything happens for a reason. And yes, we will be okay.

Wishing you joy and safe journeys,

Dalai Llama“At a fundamental level, as human beings, we are all the same; each one of us aspires to happiness and each one of us does not wish to suffer.”  – His Holiness the 14th Dalai Llama of Tibet

There have been moments of profound happiness in my life. Just thinking about them creates a warm glow in my heart. I can feel myself smiling, and if someone were to walk in the room right now, they’d see me and smile, too. Happiness is catching.

But what really strikes me about the Dalai Llama is his ability to continually aspire to a state of happiness in spite of everything he has gone through. He has known great suffering, has lived with the physical experience of human nature at its worst, yet he is unshaken in his belief that we are all meant to be happy.

The Dalai Llama teaches that happiness is achieved by choosing not to suffer. Choosing not to suffer is achieved by training our minds. The Dalai Llama has mastered the ability to choose happiness over suffering, but he would be the first to tell you that it doesn’t happen overnight. We can start with simple, everyday experiences. For example, I can stand impatiently in a long line at the store, or I can stand there thankful for the extra time it gives me to relax. Training ourselves to perpetually seek that silver lining can prepare us to find strength and acceptance in situations that are not so easy. It takes practice.

In my last blog, I wrote about the impact our positive or negative words can have on others, including water and plants. Choosing happiness is ultimately about how we direct such words to ourselves. We can make ourselves wilt or grow with the power of our own thoughts, regardless of the situation. It’s all in how we tell ourselves to think about it. Definitely not easy to do, but Quintessence Creations was founded with the idea that we can help people on their path to healing and happiness. Sometimes that lovely image, or inspirational saying, or peaceful scent, can remind us of those warm, glowing moments in our hearts.

With sincere wishes for your happiness,

Grand CanyonStanding safely on a fenced cliff overlooking the Grand Canyon is much like standing in the presence of an angel. Its magnificence fills you with awe and wonder. One look from the dizzying height at the glorious multicolor view that stretches as far as the eye can see shifts something within you, and your perspective on life is forever changed. You feel humbled and strangely peaceful, even blessed by this spectacular evidence that the world is beautiful and so much bigger than we can ever hope to understand.

Science tells us that this stunning gape in the earth adorned with towering reddish rocks was created by steady, centuries-patient river water on stone. Those rushing currents caressed the rocks over and over again, repeating the same message to the seemingly unyielding stoneyou are more than this. Fulfill your potential. And the rocky land became deeper, wider, and ever more beautiful until it grew into what we know today as the Grand Canyon.

Archangel Gabriel, the Messenger, is like that river. He patiently speaks to us every day of our lives, encouraging us with the message of our own potential. Whenever we feel hard and unwilling to change, Gabriel is there to guide us and help us carve our paths through the canyons of life. Each and every one of us has the power to grow and change. We are meant to be one with our higher selves, vibrating with that same humbling wonder we see in nature’s most magnificent creations. Sometimes it just takes a little help from our good angels to get us there.

Happy changemaking,
