Circle Of Wings Mystical Art Print

Did you know that February is National Bird Feeding Month?  It was created through a Congressional resolution in 1994 to encourage and support care for wild birds during winter when food, water, and shelter are scarce.

We humans have a special connection to our wild bird brothers. They inspire us to dream, to elevate ourselves ever higher. In many traditions, the bird symbolizes the soul, our soaring spirits traveling to otherworlds in dreams or passing physical boundaries into next lives and on to heaven.

One of my all-time favorite books is Jonathan Livingston Seagull. It is a beautiful story about a bird who felt a calling to push boundaries, who taught others how to reach deep inside themselves and achieve more than they ever dreamed possible. He took heart-thumping risks, survived devastating failures, but never gave up.

I think of that seagull when I see a hawk making lazy circles high in the sky, or hear the aching cry of a loon across a misty lake, or watch the quick little sparrow darting back and forth from my bird feeder to his tree perch. How far have they come? How far will they go? What personal boundaries will they inspire me to break?

We help feed the birds, and they help feed our souls. Keep tossing those seeds and berries,

I love green, leafy trees. I love to peer up through the branches at the dappling shades of color, to hear the wind rustle as if it were speaking to me through the dancing leaves. It all seems so chaotic, the branches and leaves twisting one way or another. But if I climb the tree and sit among the branches as high as I can get, I see that there is nothing random about the leaves at all. Somehow, each branch connected to each stem connected to each leaf has perfectly positioned that leaf to capture even the tiniest hint of sun rays through the green boughs. There is a purpose, a pattern to the chaos.

These patterns in nature are everywhere – seashells, sunflowers, snowflakes, salt crystals. All unique. All perfect. All the way down to the cellular level. Science has confirmed for us what the ancients already knew, the existence of universal patterns that connect every living and non-living thing on and off this planet.

As an energy worker, I know that when we emulate this sacred geometry in our art and music, we increase our existing vibration within the universe. Buddhists will emulate it in the creation of mandalas with colored sand and meditate on the pattern for days, even weeks, in deep connection with their higher selves before returning the painstakingly perfect design to nature as an acceptance of the tenet of impermanence.

Many of the art prints and home décor offered at Quintessence Creations include sacred geometry in the artists’ works, such as in this mystical rendition of owls posted here. I am careful to choose works that will inspire, works that can help us resonate at higher frequencies. Having these items in our homes gives us the opportunity to pause and meditate on the beautiful depiction of nature’s patterns – without having to climb a tree to find them. Deep in such meditation is where we touch a higher vibration, where we find purpose, where we find our own sacred pattern in the universe.

There are many guides watching over and helping us throughout our lives – angels, ascended masters, our dearly departed loved ones, to name a few – but we too often forget to embrace the help of our animal guides. They offer unconditional love and protection and are as close to us as a kindred spirit can be.

Native American tradition tells us we each have our own unique animal guide, as unique to us as our fingerprints. This belief is often reflected even in modern times, such as in the characters in the Harry Potter series who each had their own unique animal patronus.  But we don’t have a wand to wave to discover that gentle creature protecting us. No problem. There are several meditations that can bring our guide before us. Here is one of my favorites:

Prepare a room with a lightly scented candle and calming background music or silence. Settle into your regular meditation position, or relax in a comfortable chair with your feet flat on the floor and hands resting lightly on the chair arms or in your lap. Close your eyes. Take three slow, deep, cleansing breaths.

Imagine a place in nature that gives you a sense of peace and contentment. Somewhere that feels like home. It could be a beach, a forest, a desert, or even your own backyard. Just pick the first place in nature that comes to your mind when you think of contentedness. Imagine yourself sitting in that place. Smell the air. Imagine you are barefoot and feel the ground, squeezing it with your toes. Smile  – this is a place that should feel familiar and happy.

As you sit there, allow yourself to notice the wildlife around you, peering at you from their shelters. You are completely relaxed. You are at home in this setting. Everything feels natural and just as it should be. Now, without speaking aloud, fill your heart and mind with welcoming thoughts. Ask your animal guide permission to see him or her.  And then simply wait, quiet, gentle, and welcoming.

After a few moments, you will notice one of the creatures move slowly toward you. It could be anything from a tiger to an inchworm, although typically native to your peaceful place setting (but not always).This is your animal guide. Welcome this animal with your smile and your heart. Allow him or her to come very close to you, to touch you. You are not afraid. Reach out your hand to touch your animal guide. Feel the soft fur or delicate wings or cool, leathery skin. Thank your guide for being there and for watching over you.

At this point, you may ask your guide a question. There may or may not be an answer this time, but when the answer comes, you will feel it inside. Let your guide know that you would be happy to visit again. Stay as long as you like, and when you are ready to return to your physical space, thank your animal guide once again. Slowly return you mind to your meditation position, and allow yourself to awaken.  You will feel peaceful and happy. You have just met your animal guide. Whenever you are feeling sad or troubled, or simply want to share a joy, your guide will be waiting for you in your shared peaceful place, always as loyal as your dearest friend.
